A kallanka was a typical construction of Inca architecture. It consisted of a rectangular enclosure, up to 90 meters long, mentioned as a "shed" in the chronicles due to its size. Several functions have been attributed to it, temple of divinities or barracks for the soldiers, a public place for crowds or meetings, palaces or lodgings for important people, or finally as a multifunctional building, adaptable to different purposes and situations.
